Festival

From the 1st to the 20th of July 2026, the historic city of Chieti will once again come alive with music as it hosts the 9th edition of the Chieti Classica International Music Festival, an immersive celebration of music, education, and artistic discovery at the very heart of Italy.

Bringing together outstanding young musicians and some of the most renowned global artists of our age, Chieti Classica offers an inspiring environment in which learning and performance unfold side by side, with masterclasses, courses, and collaborative projects that encourage learning, development, and cultural exchange.

For this ninth edition, the festival will be welcoming an exceptional international faculty of pedagogues, including amongst them cellist Alexander Chaushian, violinists Pavel Berman, Eva Bindere and Dora Schwarzberg, tenor Fabio Armiliato for lyric singing, violist Zvi Carmeli, and pianist Giuliano Mazzoccante, with the latter two also set to be leading courses in chamber music. Together, their combined expertise will ensure that students will be able to enjoy a rich artistic journey that spans solo performance, chamber music, and vocal repertoire, guided by decades of international experience.

Festival events will take place across a wide variety of some of Chieti’s most evocative cultural spaces, transforming the city into a hub for classical music. Venues include the Teatro Marrucino, Museo Universitario, Palazzo de' Mayo, Museo d'Arte Costantino Barbella, Piazza Gian Battista Vico, Convitto Nazionale G.B. Vico, and the Liceo Statale Isabella Gonzaga, each of which will be contributing its own unique atmosphere and rich history to the festival’s musical landscape.

Moreover, adding a further interdisciplinary dimension to the programme, Chieti Classica 2026 will also be hosting a special theatre workshop led by acclaimed actor and theatre performer Massimo Di Michele, which will be running from the 6th to the 11th of July, and shall be open to both young students as well as older practitioners, providing them with the rare opportunity to learn from one of the most accomplished names in the field today.

With its wide-ranging vision and international spirit, this latest edition of Chieti Classica will present three weeks of intense creativity, artistic growth, and unforgettable experiences, promising an educational journey that is sure to live on in the hearts and minds of all those in attendance for years to come!
